80s and 90s kids TV nostalgia trip

They don't make them like this any more. I say, they don't make them like this no more. Wednesday night and we've nothing to do so...

Jesus we watched a lot of TV when we were young. Have we missed any?

Entertaining Beasts at Taronga Zoo

Loadsa videos, well five, from our day at Taronga Zoo. Apparently they're moving some of the animals to Garden Island for the wives of APEC to get a feel of them.

Chris' Birthday - Blowing out the candles

Our new phone system thing

We got the internet in so we decided to exploit it farther than emailing, blogging and downloading music. Got a program that allows us to call landlines for free so we shelled out for a big (very big) shiny headset. Check Chris out on it talking to wee Ciaran:

So we can phone home for free now, that said I wouldn't expect a call too soon as we're dead lazy!

Dr Karl Kennedy plays Live!

Chris' birthday night out we headed to The Gaff on Oxford Street. Met with the English dudes Chris, Gary, Gemma and Matt around 9pm and drank some beers and jagermeister to get in the frame of mind for the entertainment event of the century: Dr Karl Kennedy's band Waiting Room! Good fun, he's a really nice guy even sang happy birthday for Chris she nearly had a heart attack she was so excited. Pictures and videos below:

Photos and videos from Chris' birthday outing to Summer Bay

We're about to head out to see Dr Karl Kennedy playing live at The Gaff but as we've been gettin ready we've been uploading todays stuff to the internet. We'll write about our experiences tomorrow along with photos from tonight no doubt but in the meantime, if you happen to be happening on our blog enjoy!

We've come back to this post but couldn't be arsed to write anything more; the pictures speak for themselves after all (bleugh!) Here's a nice couple of links to Summer Bay / Palm Beach on Google Earth and Google Maps.

Guess who we ran into in Sydney town?

Well, it was difficult to see in cause the video is pretty choppy but it was Matt Damon. Here's some further proof:

Paul's Last weekend Down Under

We're a bit sad at the moment cause we had a great weekend with Paul and Julia and now it's over. The dream is over. I doubt if we will ever be truly happy again. Not until we watch Die Hard 3 in half an hour anyway. Paul is off home tomorrow after nigh on 11 months in Oz, 6 of which we're spent in the arse-hole of nowhere charming rural community of Bundaberg. Saturday we were out boozing it up in a variety of bars and somehow, shock/horror, ended up in an Irish pub. The first place we walked into on Oxford Street had a real festive atmosphere. Paul had asked the guy behind the desk at his hostel where would be lively for a Saturday afternoon drink, he was pointed in the direction of Oxford Street. After wandering past a number of fetish shops and single sex drinking establishments it dawned on us that, of course, Oxford Street is home to many of Sydneys gayer public houses. Still headed into a place called The Colombian because it looked nice. It was. There were guys dancing at 2pm and ads up on the wall for intriguing holiday opportunities like 'Gay Ski NZ'?? Anyway a fine day was had by all. Sunday we all met up after lunchtime and took a short ferry trip over to the fantastically located but pretty crappy amusements at Luna Park. It had a nice old fashioned throwback feel what we imagine Barrys Portrush was like in the 70s. We were only there for 15 minutes, went on one ride; the rollercoaster which was actually genuinely terrifying because it felt like at any point there was a real possibility of the little car derailing and plummenting 30 feet to the concrete below. Belter craic! As mentioned we left the park and headed back across the harbour and dandered down to the ever popular Darling Harbour. Had a pint in a nice little pub that brews it's own porter with chocolate in it (apparently).

If you want to follow our adventures on Saturday illustrated on a map you can click here. (Do it!)

Oh yeah. If anyone is interested (and why wouldn't you be?) in a bit of footie related competition sign up for the Premier Leagues Fantasy Football. It's free and we can all join a league. It'll be great fun. Dave's dad probably is feeling pretty confident after his triumph in 04/05 but he was lucky then, lighting won't strike twice. You can sign up here. If you're interested pick your team by (we think) Friday 10th August, post a comment on here to let us know you have or email Dave and he'll see about setting up the league.

Well, at last, here is the link to the weekends photo gallery:

Here's a couple of videos from the weekend too. Us out at Scruffy Murphys after quite a few ales and the rickety rollercoaster at Luna Park.
