Viva Las Vegas

Barely made it out of the room during the day yesterday as it was pushing 100 degrees outside and Dave forgot to pack swimming shorts so we couldn't lie by the pool. (I know I could've bought shorts but it would've taken a 45 minute round trip walk in the heat, air conditionings a wonderful thing) Anyways we went out last night and did Vegas as it's meant to be done. Well we drank some drink and gambled a whopping one dollar. It was good craic. Ate at a great buffet for dinner, Main Street Station in Downtown. Highly recommended if anyone comes here. Dave ate clams and lobster for the first time and wasn't overly impressed with either. Made the mistake of getting drinks in one of the classier joints on The Strip - The Venetian. Two beers and 2 whiskeys and 7up (don't ask for white lemonade) cost us $35 including tip. Crapped ourselves, drank up quick and got out of there. There are cheap places to drink on The Strip that are nice enough. Older casinos like Drais, O'Sheas and another crappier looking place had $1 and $2 beers that you can walk out onto The Strip with and into other casinos too.

Here's photos from our night out in Vegas

The Fremont Street Experience - big and bright but kind of underwhelming. We waited for 45 minutes for it to begin and left after 5.

Looks like a really crazy place. The Fremont thing must have been a bit impressive -- even just because of the size. The choice of music seems a bit strang though.
Is the Beatles "Love" show not on any more? What do the shows cost, e.g. Phantom?

Fremont was alright in retrospect. We had more fun laughing at all the funny americans than the light show. There's loads of fairly rubbish street entertainers to look at too though. Getting down to The Strip is what you wanna be doin anyway, The Bellagio dancing fountains were really cool. Think the shows ranged from $40 to $100. We'd talked about going to Phantom but the notion kind of faded out, The Beatles Love show did sound really good from what we read. Produced by the fifth Beatles - George Martin. You's should go to Veags it's good fun, don't stay in a hostel though mind!

Unfortunately we didn't win big in Vegas mum. The best I did was I got a voucher for a free slice of pizza but you had to book a hotel room to get it so I didn't even win that much. Don't worry we've plenty of money making schemes to try in Australia. You and Margaret, will be well looked after when you come over - Dave

Liked your L.A. Photos... Have you seen any stars in L.A. or is that confidential?

Just catching up with all of the postings. The Grand Canyon looked awesome. I'm not sure I'd have the head for it nor trust Anne not to give me a nudge. Brendan would lose the house if we let him near the casino. I hear the shows, food and drink are all free if you're a high roller. Surely they bankrolled you when they found out you were gambling a whole dollar. I feel a claim coming on regarding that monster. I know a solicitor on the Falls Road who claimed on his house insurance when his daughter lost his virginity. Want his number?

Hope they "waited" on you in Beverely Hills. Otherwise... Big Mistake. Remember, settle for nothing less than "indecent sucking up!"
