So we ended up staying in the flat for most of the time. The city was out of bounds. We ate 3 take aways and drank a whole 4 litres of goon on Friday night trying to stay up for the Rugby. We both stayed up until after 5am (Dave until after 6) but neither of us remember much of the game. We also watched 3 films during the night to keep us awake. (Little Miss Sunshine was still hilarious and made us laugh even though it was our 2nd time seeing it)
Anyway we went to Cronulla on Sunday and walked about a bit and made dinner instead of being lazy and ordering it.
Cronulla made the press back home a couple of years ago beacuse of some nasty racist hullaballoo. It seems that these sentiments haven't exactly disappeared or maybe they're just not ashamed of it; nobody's been arsed to remove this graffiti from a wall by the beach:
We didn't know where it left us so we beat a hasty retreat to the train. Later, curious about the Cronulla affair, we did a bit of research and came across this charming piece on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEonlHWEfuI Genius! While we were walking along the beach we saw class surfers and weird blue jellyfish, or at least we thought they were jellyfish.
Dave's phone rang and it was Cahir and Ratzy at 4:30am Derry time (that's Chris chattin to them in the picture above!) We were so happy!!! We know you were a bit out of it but we were so glad to hear your voices. Thanks guys.
Here are some photas from the beach.

Here are some photos that we took last month that we forgot about.

Right America's Next Top Model is on and I want to watch the end of it.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MY WEE BROTHER PAUL. XOXOXOX
Young fellas skim boarding, looks like fun, roll on summer! We'll be able to lie on our holes watching people do these kinda cool activities while basking in the sun.

The blue jellyfish are whale snotters. Was that we woman in the train station giving you the finger? Loved the beach and the surfers. Are you two going to give it a try or are you still afraid of sharks? Keep the pics coming.
See ya!
ahh. Whale snotters.... That's what I thought they were. Would love to surf but I think I prefer watching the pros do it. There are too many shark attacks here and Dave woudn't believe me when I said people go on shark petrol in helicopters during the summer. I would have swam in the sea pools shown in the photas but they are too close to the water. The sharks could jump over and get me.
Hope the wine was nice. You both look great.
Love you,
Mammy
Hi David and Christine. Starting to catch up with the blog now that we're back from Spain and Manchester. Cronulla looks just like home -- plenty of inter-community strife. Only joking.
I hope that David is going to get into the sea at some stage -- or even get his shirt off when the sun is shining. Rolling up the sleeves of the t-shirt doesn't really count. I think he should stay off the tea going by the look on his face when that white pot was being passed.
I reckon the whale snotters (jeez) are actually bluebottle jellyfish. I recognised them straightaway. Apparently they're poisonous -- really. Have a look at http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/01/070123-blue-jellyfish.html.
I'm going to look at some more pics now.
Love,
Dad
I keep typing stuff that doesn't appear whenI try and publish it. It'd be quicker posting it, I swear to God. Videos of the surfers looked cool but not as good as Culdaff. You need to have frozen bollocks, sand in every orifice, one sock missing, streaming with snotters (whale or otherwise) and covered in goosebumps to really enjoy a pint and chowder in front of a fire. Do they have turf over there?
