The Becks Show comes to town

Rejoice! Movember is over so we can get back to nice normal posts about Dave and Chris at the beach and the symphony and whatnot.

The last bloggable act of Movember was the fantastical spectacle that was David Beckham coming to Australia to play a game of football. The way the country went bonkers about him though you'd think his presence alone could have ended the 7-year drought and gave Kevin Rudd some charisma. Mind you it was an exceptionally wet November...

We got tickets for the game along with 80,000 other people. Sydney FCs average crowds - around 10,000. Anyways the game was, to most peoples surprise, a bit of a show-piece. 8 goals were scored including a trademark 'bender'(not my words) from Becks. The prevailing attitude about 'socca' among Aussies is much like that of the yanks.

Our seats were near The Cove where the Sydney FC hardcore sit. To their credit they all sang their hearts out even though some of there original songs were, in all fairness, shit.

There were loads of moustaches on show on the night, Movember was well observed among the footy attending crowd. Incidentally 95,000 people took part in Movember this year raising in the region of $10m for mens health issues. Well done to everybody especially the kind folks back home who sponsored Dave.

Massive inflatable hands are fun

So many comedic uses!

Goal Syders! Almost all action down other end 1st half

Apart from this little beauty. A Bender from Becks TM

Loose ends for Movember

We've taken a few pictures over the month that haven't really warranted a full blog post many many of them of a man with a moustache.

Here's a choice couple of them and a link the full gallery as per usual.

The mangoes are here! A big deal for Aussies.

Last Movemeber Post

The month is coming to a close and so the moustache's days are numbered. Will it ever be revisited after I lop it off my face on Saturday morning? Course I won't.

The campaign hasn't just been an ill-conceived joke, the point has been to raise some money for charity without having to get sweaty or tired, but that's not to say it's been easy. There have been some shockers (hairy moments?). Look how ginger the mo looked under bright lights in the 1st photo below for Gods sake.

Last couple of days of the campaign I'm restyling it in the only way I can with so little raw material to work with. See the last photo below. Might prove controversial, some people really dislike Charlie Chaplin.

Thanks you so much to those who were kind enough to sponsor me and for those who haven't you still have time to redeem yourselves. You can sponsor with your shiny pommie pounds via this webpage: http://www.movember.com/au/donate/?action=sponsorlink&rego=118035

Muse

Almost lost our tickets to this gig in our flat but luckily they turned up safe and sound. Good night, they were a bit weak in the middle playing 4 slow songs in the row but they picked up and Knights of Cydonia alone was worth the admission. Really jealous of the floor standing people. They were bouncing like mad calling into question the 'Aussies-are-boring-at-gigs-theory' Better not be an isolated incident: more of the same for Daft Punk and Kings of Leon!

The Killers Concert

Went to see The Killers play on a Sunday night. We'd booked this months ago and had been looking forward to it immensely. The fact we had to work the next day and weren't in the standing section couldn't put a dampner on things.

The Killers were excellent, Brandon's stage roaming antics were enjoyable - jumping on top of speakers and shaking his legs zanily. The music was incredible and our seats were surprisingly good especially when our Muse seats are considered.

We mucked around Chinatown before hand as you do.

Powerhouse Museum

Well it was weeks ago now. We've had a bit of blog fatigue of late but rest-assured we've been up to all sorts of cool stuff.

Went for a Sunday afternoon of culture and education at the Powerhouse Museum which surprisingly (to us at least) has been around for about 100 years. We assumed it was a recent development like the Tate Modern in London.

Primarily we went for the Diana Exhibition but were wowed by such articles like a massive gaudy clock, James Watts big steam boiler and some rather boring sustainable living exhibition.

We've decided to add some of our favourite photos direct on here to cater for those who wouldn't be arsed to wade through endless photos of cliffs and us making faces (don't worry there are still plenty of those in the Picasa galleries)

Third tache update

The moustache has been taken in a slightly different direction. A pencil thin one. Well I'm trying but it's difficult to maintain such precise lip fuzz. Check out the photo from The Killers gig on Sunday, it portrays the feelings of superiority and disdain wearing facial hair like this makes me feel towards the rest of humanity.

Here's a nicer shot were I'm adopting the inquisitive expression of a top private detective.

Day 7: It's bedding in nicely

The 'tache has taken root and it's thriving! The looks of bemusement from strangers that I was receiving at the start of the week have become looks of awe and reverence as the mocca grows more mighty. However it's possible that may all in my head. Check it out!

Support Dave's Movember Campaign

For the whole month of November Dave will be growing what surely promises to be a very silly looking moustache and it's all in the name of charity. It's time to give something back and if I can do that by simply looking like a bit of twat for 30 days then great.

I'd like to believe that I'll be able to muster a full bodied Selleck, Lynam or Zappa but it will more likely resemble a ginger dog in the final stages of rabies. Part of the fun will be finding out and there will be a regular progress report in the form of photos posted on here and Facebook.

If you would like to support Dave in this mammoth undertaking and in so doing lend some financial support to men's health research and organisations in Australia he will be eternally grateful. The Aussies have done some pretty clever things in the field of medicine so they may come good again and develop some more effective treatments to nasty illnesses like prostate cancer and depression. Hopefully it'll be a case of MO money pledged in Movember leads to fewer problems for all us fellas and the ladies that love us.

I haven't been able to check this but I'm fairly certain that it will be possible for all you people back home to donate a few £s by credit or debit card via the Movember website. If not, I'll work something out, I'm sure Ratzy will drive around and collect some cash for me. You should be able to go direct to my Movemeber donate page using the link below. If you're asked for my registration, or 'rego' number as it's known in Oz, it is 118035. Just think with the exchange rate for every £1 donated you'll be contributing literally thousands of Aussie Dollars (not literally, actual exchange rate much less).

Thanks for your time reading this and subsequently donating as you’ve been moved so much. Only kidding, moral support: grand, monetary support: GREAT! but I'm not expecting everybody to be in the position to donate. Please feel free to email me with messages of support or abuse.
