John Williams Concert

This email from Chris is the perfect way to sum up a great afternoon at The Opera House:

The John Williams Tribute was amazing! Thought I was gonna have a heart attack. Was so overwhelmed and had to stop myself constantly turning to Dave and telling him what scene in the film the music was from! Loved it so much! It started off with the Olympic Fanfare (Daddy you would have loved that).

The whole section after the interval was all Star Wars Themed from all 6 films. WOW! I have all the songs on my John Williams album (The geek that I am) apart from HARRY POTTER, which was class too. They also played Schlinders List, Close Encounters, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. (The New Indiana Jones film The Return of the Crystal Skull better be good). The only things that I was disappointed at was that they did not play the gorgeous Lost World music from Jurassic Park (they played a fighting and chasing sequence instead) And the girl next to me PONGED of fake tan. MING DING ALING.

My favourites were
Star Wars: The Throne Room and End Titles. Was absolutely amazing!!!
Star Wars: Main Theme. This included one my favourite film scenes - Luke and the Two Moons on Tattoine. Love it
Superman This gave everyone goosebumps!!!!! When I'm on my own I always cry when he saves Lois from that helicopter!
E.T. Made me a wee bit teary. Wow

I also got to see Storm Troopers and Darth Vader and at one stage the conductor conducted the orchestra with a light sabre!!! Awesome!

I have convinced Dave to have a John Williams themed night. We are currently watching Return of the Jedi. (It was on the TV anyway - I swear)

I better go and come down from from this high.

Aww

Outside the main concert hall with the excellent shiny program in hand

We sat behind the orchestra in the cheap seats which, we think, were pretty great. You weren't really allowed to take photos, this one was snapped just at the end.

Sounded like a great concert and the Opera House looked really class.

The Opera House is OK, but not a patch on the Millennium Forum.
The little guy at the wedding looks a bit like the dwarf in Fantasy Island.
