Anyways today was a beautiful sunny 25+ degree day, this despite the weather forecast predicting another cloudy showery day. They really haven't got a clue about meteorology here, they're always getting it wrong. They may as well throw a dart at a barometer. We defied them and headed to the beach via Kings Cross where we stopped to pay off our post-February, post-Sydney, holiday activities.
We travelled to Bondi to make our way down the coast walk to Coogee, a bit of a favourite of ours. There was a swim race on that morning from Bondi to Bronte (around 2 kms) Some of the participants were drifting back passing us on the way. There were loads of dogs as usual, they're awfully popular here. We enjoy just sitting back on the cliffs watching them get up to mischief.
The waves at Bronte beach were something else. Dave just couldn't resist getting in for a wee dip. Chris graciously looked after the camera and tickets and wasn't really up for the water as we didn't have a towel. The surf was amazing. The waves were huge, 10 feet maybe, even bigger perhaps and so powerful. Dave was close to getting a nasty mouthful of brine on a couple of occasions.
The water around Sydney beaches is so clear and mercifully appears to be fairly shark free. Not so however the sea around Byron Bay which has been a big plagued by sharks of late. There were 30 sightings in November and what looked like a Great White photographed metres from swimmers during the week. We're off there in April and not too far away for surf lessons in March. Lets hope they've all pissed off by then.

25 degrees! That's nothin' Last night it was just over 32 degrees here. You are talking Fahrenheit? Just think what you're missing here... beautiful frosty, mornings the sound of rain lashing the windows, gale force winds rustling the trees, hailstones bouncing off the ground, coughs, sneezes, colds, flu, fever... need I go on. We even had 50 ft waves the other day. Beat that!
It wasn't anonymous that wrote the last blog. It was me! Just in case you were wondering.
Seems a bit rough putting your dog in the bin just because he did a poo. What if he did the poo before he came out for a walk? Does he still have to go in the bin? That's a strange rule and one I think we can do without here. Someone could stand on the poo while talking to your dog in the bin. The complications are endless. By the way summer hasn't started here yet. It starts on Boxing Day when the Easter egg ads transmit.
Weather looks great and you both seem to be getting a bit of colour. Good to see David finally taking the plunge -- enjoyed the Popeye comment.
